International Gold Cup – THIS WEEKEND

Looking for some fun this weekend – then head out of DC to the lush countryside of The Plains, Virginia for the 70th running of the International Gold Cup. Thousands will gather to watch the steeplechase races with jockeys from around the world. Why am I blogging about this, you might ask? Well, this event has some of the most gourmet tailgating around! And who doesn’t love a day of fun in the country! Lavash tents surround the rail with people partying all day long. Be sure to check back next week for pictures of some of the gourmet finds along with recipes.

If you get tired of all the hats and swanky clothing, there are plenty of great eateries in the area…

Check out the Ashby Inn and Restaurant for delicious French-inspired comfort food. This is also one of the hotspots for partying the night before the race.
