We were in Buffalo for the weekend and were delighted when our friend, Doug, made these for breakfast one morning. We thought he’d been up for hours fussing in my mom’s kitchen… kneading and waiting and rolling… little did we know! He did spill the secret, which you’re just not going to believe! I’ve made homemade doughnuts a few times and they’re always delish, the problem is just that if you’re serving them for breakfast, that means you’re up hours before everyone else… Not anymore… Keep reading for the secret 🙂 Continue reading
The weekend before last, we headed north to my home 30 minutes South of Buffalo for the First Annual Meyer Harvest Patch Bash! And after a quick, but fun-filled couple of short days there, we headed back to DC with a car overloaded with produce from the farm… my favorite at the moment, the delicious and beautiful (they’re currently in a huge silver bowl on my coffee table) turnips that my darling husband dug up for me! Stay tuned tomorrow for a recipe for the hit of the weekend… Caramel Apple Bourbon Butter!!!
These little suckers are just what the title suggests – nuggets of goodness!

I know, you’re probably reacting the exact same way I did… Baked? As good as fried? I don’t believe it!
We’ll being from Buffalo, and reading the comment from NATIVE BUFFALONIANS, on the topic at Serious Eats, I thought I’d break the stereotype and give these baked wings a go on Sunday.
The recipe I’m going to try for the wings is: Baked Buffalo Hot Wings.
I’m also going to try the corresponding Homemade Blue Cheese Dip.
If you try them, let me know what you think…
Alright, I’m going to do it… Here comes a plethora of recipes to satiate your craving for something “Buffalo” ie. hot sauce, inspired for Sunday. Some are my recipes and others come from fellow food bloggers – I’ll be sure to indicate who and where so you can check out their sites too… Here goes!
Chex Mix… Buffalo-Style
4 cups Rice Chex cereal
4 cups Wheat Chex cereal
4 cups Corn Chex cereal
2 cups pretzel twists
6 tablespoons butter
2 1/2 tablespoons hot sauce
1 packet ranch dressing mix
2 teaspoons celery seed
Last weekend I was in Buffalo for the delicious, mouthwatering, succulent, scrumptious Buffalo Wing Festival. The Annual event takes place at Coca-Cola Field (previous Dunn Tire Park) and is a chicken wing lover’s dream! We’re talking more wings in one place than you could ever imagine!
We made our way around and tasted wing after wing to find the best sauce, which in the end is the good old traditional Buffalo sauce, in my humble opinion. The festival also includes a professional and amateur wing eating contest and a variety of other entertainment for attendees (including a serious game of Family Feud, which is what I’m doing in the above photo).
Check out their website for event details for next year!
Via Serious Eats, check this out! I have to give the throw back to my home area of Buffalo and Zillycakes for creating this impressive picture from 1,240 cupcakes!
